York College Professor Receives Award From York Mayor
Posted February 16, 2000FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
York, Pennsylvania--David Polk, Ph.D., Professor of Behavioral Science at York College of Pennsylvania, was awarded a Meritorious Service Commendation by York Mayor Charles H. Robertson on Jan. 28.
Dr. Polk has aided the York City Police Department for the past two years by conducting annual surveys of five community policing areas. The surveys provide the department with valuable information by identifying neighborhood problems and finding out what citizens think about their community's police officers. Dr. Polk uses his research methodology classes to conduct the door-to-door surveys of hundreds of city residents.
Dr. Polk is co-owner of Polk-Lepson Research Group. He uses his company's facilities and his own personal time to tabulate the survey results. "Professor Polk has done all of this work free of charge, saving the City of York thousands of dollars," Mayor Robertson said.
