Guest Lecturer at York College Will Speak on Ethics and Morals in the Classical World

York, Pennsylvania--Michael Slote, Ph.D., author and philosophy professor at the University of Maryland, will speak on “The Tradition of Virtue” at York College of Pennsylvania on March 15 at 7 p.m. in Alumni Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

In the classical world, an ethical person was someone with virtue, and a moral person was someone with strength of character and a harmonious soul. Dr. Slote will explain how these classical values are still relevant today.

Dr. Slote is the author of many books and articles on ethics, moral psychology and political philosophy, including “Goods and Virtues,” “Common-Sense Morality and Consequentialism” and “From Morality to Virtue.”
