York, Pennsylvania—York College of Pennsylvania's Admissions Office Web site was recently ranked 23rd in the nation by the National Research Center for College and University Admissions (NRCCUA).

The NRCCUA rated more than 800 college and university Web sites based on nine key indicators, including graphics, ease of navigation and the ability to apply online. A full description of the study and a listing of results can be found at www.nrccua.org/research/.

“York College is pleased to be recognized for developing a progressive, comprehensive Web site that is appealing to prospective students, parents and counselors,” said Dr. Frank Mussano, dean of administrative services. “There is little doubt that a portion of the 19 percent increase in applications we are receiving this year can be attributed to our positive, approachable presence on the Web.”

The York College Web site (www.ycp.edu) receives 100,000 “hits” on an average day from 18,000 different computers located throughout 50 countries. The site generates about 100 e-mail admissions inquiries each day.

In the coming months, York College plans to install a streaming video of the campus, accept online credit card payments and allow prospective students to view the status of their admissions and financial aid applications. Upperclassmen will be able to schedule classes, access transcripts and view grades.
