More than 100 Machines to be Delivered to Local Organizations
York, Pennsylvania--Later this summer, York College of Pennsylvania will donate more than 100 used computer systems to schools and nonprofit organizations in York County. The machines range from Pentium 166's to Pentium II 233's with 32 megabytes of memory, 15-inch monitors, CD-ROM drives and sound cards.
The College annually accepts written requests for computer equipment from schools and nonprofit organizations until May 1 for delivery in August. All of the computers are delivered in working condition.
“We decided several years ago to retain no computer on campus longer than three years to ensure that students and faculty have fully up-to-date equipment,” York College President George Waldner said. “Our three-year-old machines still have useful life in them, however, and are appropriate for many settings. We are pleased to make them available to a number of schools and charitable organizations.”
This year, 13 local organizations will receive free computers: The Arc of Pennsylvania, Bell Socialization Services, Crispus Attucks Community Development Corporation, Family-Child Resources, Jewish Community Center Child Care, Logos Academy, National Kidney Foundation of York County, St. Joseph School, St. Patrick School, Spring Grove Schools, York Catholic High School, and York City Schools.
