York College Appoints New Director of Public Safety and Security

York, Pennsylvania--York College of Pennsylvania has named John W. Yeager of Forest Hill, Md. the new director of public safety and security. Previously, he was the chief of campus safety at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Md. He started his new position on July 1.
Yeager is responsible for providing the college community with an effective, well-trained, proactive security department. He will work closely with local municipalities to maintain a healthy relationship with police departments in the York community.
Yeager brings 25 years of professional policing experience to York College as a police officer, investigator, and head of campus safety. He served as chief of campus security at Harford Community College from January of 1995 to October of 1999. He worked as a patrol officer in Howard County, Md. from the fall of 1979 to the fall of 1992. From 1973 to 1979, he was a police investigator with the University of Maryland Police Department.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Maryland in 1984. Last December, he received a Master's degree in public administration with a concentration in information systems and technology from the University of Baltimore.
