York Country Day School to Inaugurate New Headmaster

Daniel Rocha Will Officially Be Introduced Sept. 20
York, Pennsylvania--York Country Day School will inaugurate new headmaster Daniel J. Rocha on Sept. 20 at 5:30 p.m. on the front lawn of the School. In July, Rocha replaced Taylor Smith, who served as headmaster for 12 years.
The inauguration will be attended by trustees, faculty, staff, students and alumni. A reception will follow the ceremony. In case of rain, the inauguration will be held inside the school building.
Rocha, 43, brings 20 years of school administering and teaching experience to York Country Day School. Before coming to York, he served for four years as the middle school head of campus at Montclair Kimberly Academy in Montclair, N.J. From 1990 to 1996, he was the head of middle school at the Bancroft School in Worchester, Mass. He served as director of lower school computer programs at the Germantown Academy in Fort Washington, Pa. from 1984 to 1990. Rocha has also taught at St. Peter's School in Philadelphia.
Rocha received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Temple University and a Master of Science degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania.
Daniel Rocha and his wife, Elizabeth, have two children, Kristin, 13, and David, 9. Both attend York Country Day School.
York Country Day School, a private, independent institution, is a subsidiary of York College of Pennsylvania. The School is located at 1071 Country Club Road in York.
