The "Adopt-A-Block" Program is Now in its Tenth Year
York, Pennsylvania--For the tenth consecutive year, York College students are helping to make York City a cleaner place to live. On Saturday, Sept. 23 at 11 a.m., approximately 300 students from 30 organizations will participate in the first "Adopt-A-Block" cleanup of the academic year.
The "Adopt-A-Block" program, which began in 1991, is sponsored by York College's Phi Kappa Psi and several local businesses. The cleanup project covers 30 city blocks. Each of the 30 student organizations is assigned a separate block area. "Adopt-A-Block" cleanups are held four times a year, twice in the fall and twice in the spring.
On Saturday, the students will meet at the 800 block of South Pershing Avenue. They will check-in, pick up supplies and proceed to their assigned area to remove trash from the streets, sidewalks and front yards of neighborhood houses.
