York College Presents "Amahl and the Night Visitors"

York, Pennsylvania--The York College Opera and Musical Theater will present Gian-Carlo Menotti's "Amahl and the Night Visitors" on Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. in MAC Recital Hall. The performances are free and open to the public.

This production will also feature the York College Chamber Singers and Wind Ensemble, and dancers from the Joyce Freeman Dance Studio.

"Amahl and the Night Visitors" stars Kurt Walker as Amahl, Laura Heydt as Amahl's mother, Frederick Schreiner as King Kasper, Kenneth Platt as King Melchoir, Joseph Zuba as King Balthazar, and Marc Miller as the Page.

Background: The story of Amahl begins with the three kings on their way to visit the Christ Child, and along their journey, they rest at Amahl's home. Amahl and his mother soon uncover the true reason for the king's journey and are then transformed by the experience. Amahl, a crippled young boy, is healed by his simple and newly found faith, a moment that never ceases to move an audience.
