Christmas Gift Tree Party to be Held Dec. 14
Posted December 4, 2000FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
York, Pennsylvania--For the third consecutive year, York College students and ACCESS-York have teamed up to help less fortunate children in the York community have a jollier Christmas. Since many of the children are relying on a magical visit from Santa Claus to answer their wish lists, the students have volunteered to become Santa's helpers.
This year's Christmas Gift Tree Party will be held on Dec. 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Buechel Lounge. Approximately 100 children will receive Christmas warmth and personal gifts from the students. Throughout the night, the children will also be entertained by a variety of games and a surprise visit from Old St. Nick.
Prior to the Christmas party, York College students will purchase gifts that a child has requested from Santa Claus. The students will then hand deliver the presents to their "adopted" child during the party. The Gift Tree is presented by York College's Community Service Committee and ACCESS-York.
Members of the media are encouraged to attend the Gift Tree Party. Please note, however, that some children cannot be photographed. Children who can be photographed will be wearing a "Yes" sticker, and children who cannot be photographed will be wearing a "No" sticker. Please direct any questions to John Ertter, News Bureau Editor, at (717) 815-1309.
