More than 150 Horticulture Books Available In Appell Collection at York College
Posted January 17, 2001FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
York, Pennsylvania--Garden clubs, students of all ages, as well as horticulturists of all levels now have access to the most extensive collection of books published about the topic in the Schmidt Library at York College.
With the support of the Louis J. Appell, Jr. Horticulture Collection Endowment Fund, more than 150 books have been made available on various horticulture subjects, from "Landscaping with Herbs," to "Invasive Plants: Weeds of the Global Garden." Mr. Appell's senior colleagues at the Susquehanna Pfaltzgraff Company created the fund last year as a part of the York College Endowment. Whether someone is in search of a tome about insects that eat trees and shrubs or one about what types of bulbs grow in certain climates, there is something for the novice green thumb to the most experienced gardener.
Individuals interested in the collection can obtain access in person at the Schmidt Library on the York College campus, or the bibliography can be viewed online as well. The Web address is www.ycp.edu. Once on the College's homepage, inquirers should click on the Schmidt Library where they can find the collection list under `Special Collections.' At the Web destination, individuals can also gain direct access to a variety of horticulture links.
The endowment will fund continuing acquisitions for the collection and maintain existing horticultural studies resources in the Schmidt Library.
For more information about the collection, please call Susan Campbell, Schmidt Library Director, at (717) 815-1305.
