York College and the Boy Scouts Team Up to Present "A World In Sync"

York, Pennsylvania—In late February, York College of Pennsylvania and the York-Adams Council of the Boy Scouts of America will present an educational, character building program to York City Academy students. The program, titled "A World In Sync," will be held at York College Feb. 28 through March 2.

York City Academy's winter break will be used as an opportunity to educate kindergarten through fifth grade students about the world around them and the need to respect people with different backgrounds and beliefs. York College students and leaders of the York-Adams Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America will coordinate and supervise the events.

"A World In Sync" will teach six subject themes from the Boy Scouts of America's "Learning for Life" program: "Places and Maps," "Race, Religion and Culture," "What is Freedom?" "Law and Government," "Respecting Differences," and "Ethnic Heritage."

Using a variety of fun activities, York College students will present these six themes along with enrichment programs in art, music, physical activity, science and computers. The week's activities will close with a "World Cup" event and a special graduation ceremony. Participants will be awarded with the title of "Young Citizens of the Planet."

"A World In Sync" is the largest vacation program supported by the York City Academy during the winter break. The program can accept up to 100 students.

The program will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day. Members of the media are encouraged to attend. Please direct all media requests to John Ertter, York College News Bureau Editor, at (717) 815-1309.
