President Waldner and Former Chairman Hoover Receive Honorary Degrees from South Korea's Honam University

York, Pennsylvania—York College President George W. Waldner and former Chairman of the Board Benjamin A. Hoover both received honorary Doctor of Laws degrees from Honam University in Kwangju, South Korea, on June 15, 2001.

York College of Pennsylvania and Honam University signed an Affiliation Agreement in December of 1994 after York College political science professor Chin Suk visited the Korean institution, and Honam University President Lee, Dai Soon and his wife visited York College.

The two institutions began a student exchange program in the summer of 1995. In the fall of 1995, President and Mrs. Waldner, then-Chairman and Mrs. Hoover, and Professor Suk visited Honam University.

In December of 1996, York College presented honorary degrees to then-President Lee, Dai Soon and then-Chairman Lee, Hwa Sung.

Waldner became president of York College in 1991. Hoover has been a member of York College's Board of Trustees since 1977, serving as chairman from 1993 to July 2001.
