Environmental Activist Maya K. van Rossum to Speak Sept. 26

York, Pennsylvania—Environmental activist Maya K. van Rossum will speak at York College on Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. in MAC Recital Hall. She will present "Protecting Our Streams, Ecosystems and Communities: Your Role, Your Responsibility." The lecture is free and open to the public.
Maya K. van Rossum serves as executive director of the Delaware Riverkeeper Network. The Network's thousands of members and volunteers monitor the Delaware River and its tributaries for pollution and engage in education, advocacy and litigation to preserve and restore the river.
She graduated from the Pace Environmental Litigation Clinic with a certificate in environmental law. She later earned an LL.M. in corporate finance from Widener University School of Law, where she was appointed staff attorney and student supervisor for the Widener Environmental Law Clinic. A native of the Delaware River watershed, she joined the staff of the Delaware Riverkeeper Network in 1994 as assistant director and was named executive director and Delaware Riverkeeper in 1996.
