Vice President of Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank to Visit Oct. 2

York, Pennsylvania—The executive vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, Richard W. Lang, will visit York College of Pennsylvania on Tuesday, Oct. 2. He will spend time speaking with economics students about the Federal Reserve's role in the U.S. economy and the country's current economic condition.

As executive vice president, Lang supervises several departments including Research, Statistics, Public Affairs, Community and Consumer Affairs, and the Payment Cards Center.

Lang will speak with approximately 80 students from 11 a.m. to 12 noon in MAC Recital Hall. The audience will consist of two combined macro economics classes.

After spending four years with the St. Louis Reserve Bank as a staff economist, Lang moved to Philadelphia in 1980 to coordinate monetary policy briefings for the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. He was promoted to senior vice president and director of research in 1984 and held that position for 16 years, eventually taking on expanded responsibilities for other central bank functions in 1991. He was promoted to executive vice president in October of 2000.
