York, Pennsylvania—York College of Pennsylvania Candlelight Concerts will begin its 2001-2002 season on Sunday, Oct. 28 with a performance by Baltimore pianist Virginia Reinecke at 3 p.m. in MAC Recital Hall. All Candlelight Concerts are free and open to the public.
Reinecke, who has delighted audiences for more than 50 years, will present a colorful program of Beethoven, Chopin and Ravel.
Reinecke has toured throughout the world and has received many accolades, including the Peabody Conservatory's prestigious Artist Diploma and, on a Fulbright scholarship, the Diplome with highest honors from the Conservatoire National de Musique in Paris.
At an early age, Reinecke won numerous prizes and scholarships. She was a three-time winner of the Peabody's Paul Thomas Prize given to potential concert artists. In 1983 she was a recipient of the school's Distinguished Alumni Award.
Reinecke enjoyed extended periods of additional study with such musical giants as Harold Bauer, Isabelle Vengerova, Tatiana Gontscharowa and Mieczyslaw Munz. Now, she herself is widely recognized as a master teacher, passing along to others the gifts of her knowledge and her love of music.
The Candlelight Concert season will include two other events. The Keystone Brass Quintet will perform on Feb. 3, and the annual Young Artists' Recital will be held on March 10.
York College Candlelight Concerts is celebrating 33 years of music under the coordination of its founder, Marjorie Hardwick Jones.
