Student Chapter of Habitat for Humanity Returns from Alabama, Wins Award

York, Pennsylvania -- 24 students from York College of Pennsylvania, recently returned from Anniston, Alabama where they were participating in a special project. The York College chapter of Habitat For Humanity helped build two homes from the ground up. The nonprofit group assists those on the lower rungs of the economic ladder.

The York College chapter also competed with four other campus groups for the Student Senate's "Most Honorable Organization" Award. The Habitat chapter won and received a $500 prize, which will be donated to the organization.

The York College of Pennsylvania Habitat chapter also works to raise awareness about homelessness. The group will be holding a "sleepout" on Friday, April 19 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in York. Members will spend the night in cardboard boxes.
