New Dean of Academic Affairs Appointed

York, Pennsylvania - Dr. William T. Bogart has been named the new Dean of Academic Affairs at York College of Pennsylvania and will begin his new duties July 1, 2002. The Ohio resident was selected from a field of more than 100 applicants. York College President George Waldner says "We are fortunate to have attracted Dr. Bogart to join us in our continuing quest to sustain and improve the quality of the academic program."

Dr. Bogart is Chairman of the Department of Economics at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He has been at the college since 1990. Bogart was a Visiting Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan during the 1998-99 school year. He also has been a Lecturer in the Economics Department at Princeton University. Bogart has research experience in Urban Economics, Public Finance, and Real Estate Markets. Courses he has taught include, Economics of Nonprofit Organizations, Economics of State and Local Governments, and Urban Economics. In addition to economics, he has been involved in research pertaining to urban planning, political science, and social work.

Dr. Bogart has written numerous publications, including a book entitled "The Economics of Cities and Suburbs." He has won many awards, including, the Weatherhead Undergraduate Teaching Award for 2000, Helping Hands Award, Case Western Reserve Fraternities and Sororities, 1998, Mortar Board "Top Prof" Award, 1997, and the Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award in Humanities and Social Sciences, 1996. The 38-year-old is married and has one daughter. Dr. Bogart will succeed Dr. Dean Cheesebrough.
