YCP Scores Well on Title II Tests
Posted August 5, 2002FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(York, Pennsylvania) -- While the qualifications and preparedness of those teaching our children remain under national scrutiny, there is some good local news. York College of Pennsylvania education majors are among the most prepared in the state. Title II scores for the 2000-2001 academic year have just been released, and York College students compiled a summary pass rate of 92 percent, significantly higher than the Pennsylvania average of 84 percent.
Title II testing is mandated by the federal Higher Education Act for students interested in becoming teachers. Of the 116 York College students who took the test, 107 passed. YCP students also achieved scores on individual exams that placed them in the highest quartiles in comparison to their peers at other institutions. York College encourages education majors to complete the teacher assessment program before they begin to student teach.
