FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York, Pennsylvania -- He was voted the "Funniest Black Comedian in San Diego," but Gary Owen is white! You may have seen him on the Black Entertainment Network's "Comic View" series. He won the job of host for a year, in 1997, after beating 44 other comedians in a nationwide contest.

Owen will be bringing his special brand of humor to York College of Pennsylvania on October 7 at 8 p.m. in the Music, Art and Communications Center (MAC) Recital Hall. He's known for addressing white and black issues including interracial dating. He says he likes to deal with subjects that white guys aren't supposed to talk about. The 26-year-old is compiling an impressive, and funny, resume. In addition to hosting the B.E.T. program, Owen has also appeared on the Montel Williams' Show and was in the movie "Held Up," acting alongside Jamie Foxx.

Tickets go on sale September 30 in the YCP Campus Programming Center, located in room 121 of the Student Union Building. The cost is five dollars to the general public. For more information call (717) 815-1239.
