Nursing Induction Ceremony

York, Pennsylvania -- The Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing will hold an induction ceremony at York College of Pennsylvania on October 25. Ten undergraduate students and three, local registered nurses will be inducted into the Eta Eta Chapter of the organization. The event takes place in the MAC Recital Hall beginning at 7 p.m.
Dr. Lillian Tom-Orme, from the University of Utah School of Medicine, will be the guest speaker. Her presentation is entitled "Honoring Cultural Diversity in Nursing Organizations and the Profession." Dr. Tom-Orme, who was born and raised on a Navajo Indian reservation in New Mexico, strives to increase the number of ethnic students in the sciences and health research roles. She received master's and doctoral degrees in transcultural nursing and health from the College of Nursing, University of Utah. She also has a master's degree in public health. The Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing provides leadership in practice, education, and research to improve the health of all people.
