Ycp Official Teaches Aspiring Principals in the Mediterranean
Posted October 24, 2002FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
York, Pennsylvania -- Dr. Philip Monteith, director of the Master's of Education Program at York College, has been working abroad on a special project. He was on the Spanish Island of Mallorca in the Mediterranean recently, teaching a group dynamics course for educational leaders. Participants were aspiring principals from the Czech Republic, Egypt, Ireland, Kuwait, and several other countries.
The course is part of a program for teachers and administrators who work in a variety of international settings including U.S. Department of Defense schools as well as foreign private schools. In addition to Mallorca, the program is also taught in Tel Aviv, Cairo, Kuwait City, and several other locations. Dr. Monteith has spent two weeks each summer for the last four years teaching the course, which is administered through the College of New Jersey's International Studies Program.
"Not only does this experience allow me to hone the skills I bring to York College, it affords me the opportunity to gain insight into the issues related to education in other countries," Dr. Monteith says. For example, as the U.S. considers going to war with Iraq, some teachers in Kuwait are preparing to leave the area.
For more information and/or to arrange an interview with Dr. Monteith, please call Randy Gray in the York College PR office at (717) 815-1309.
