Senator Arlen Specter to Visit York College

York, Pennsylvania -- As part of York College of Pennsylvania's Cultural Affairs program, Senator Arlen Specter will be on campus November 18. Specter is the ranking member on the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee and is a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, the Judiciary Committee, and the Environment and Public Works Committee.
A former prosecutor, Pennsylvania's senior senator led the investigation in 1999 of Gulf War Illness and in 1995 led the probe of the killings at Ruby Ridge, Idaho, which prompted changes in FBI and ATF policy. Specter is also well known for the leading role he played as a member of the Warren Commission, investigating the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
During his visit to campus Senator Specter will have lunch with College President George Waldner and then meet with the public at approximately 12:45 p.m. The public session will take place in Buechel Lounge in the Student Union Building. There are a limited number of seats available on a first come, first served basis.
