Demolition Party

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York, Pennsylvania -- The loud BANG you hear next Monday in York will not be cause for alarm, but cause for celebration. York College of Pennsylvania will be launching an economic revitalization project to help improve the community. The initiative will begin with a bang as a demolition party is held at the old McKay factory building on Grantley Road. The project marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the history of York College, and includes the most ambitious capital development program since YCP acquired and moved to the old Out Door Country Club in 1958.

The McKay factory, built in 1919, will be demolished to make way for the West Campus of York College. This addition will feature four new dormitories, a new classroom-office building, a 167-thousand square foot Fitness, Sports, and Physical Education Center, an all-weather track, and three athletic fields.

The demolition party will take place December 16 at 1 p.m. at 890 Grantley Road. The public is invited.
