Masters of Education Approved
Posted February 26, 2003FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
York, Pennsylvania -- York College of Pennsylvania has received final state approval for its new Master's of Education Program. The plan had been on the drawing board for several years, according to Dr. Philip Monteith, director of the new program. He says the curriculum is set to begin in August 2003. "We'll have two tracks," explained Dr. Monteith, "one for a reading specialty that is more student learning and another for school principals that focuses on administration."
Dr. Mary English, assistant superintendent of the West York School District, was among the many area educators on an advisory committee that formulated the new Master's of Education Program. "I am excited about this whole process and seeing it come together. We had input from every field and different education points of view, and that is what makes this curriculum so well-rounded and grounded in real experience," says Dr. English.
York College now has three Masters' Programs. The Master's Degree in Business Administration was approved in 1977 and the Master's of Science in Nursing began last fall. For more information on the new Master's of Education, contact Dr. Philip Monteith at (717) 815-1762 or E-mail: .
