Posted March 18, 2003FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
York, Pennsylvania -- Marion Winik, a writer well-known for her witty style of nonfiction prose, is coming to York College of Pennsylvania. Winik, who lives in Glen Rock, PA, has written several collections of essays including, "The Lunch Box Chronicles," "Telling Rules for the Unruly," and "First Comes Love." She has had her essays published in Parenting, Redbook, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, and the Philadelphia Inquirer. A reviewer for the New York Times had this to say about Winik: "Take Erma Bombeck, add the obsessions of a single mother with two boys under the age of 10, lace with a mild streak of wildness, and you have Marion Winik." She can also be heard regularly as a commentator on National Public Radio's "All Things Considered."
Winik's presentation is part of the annual lecture series sponsored by the York College English and Humanities Department. Her appearance is scheduled for April 10 at 7 p.m. in the MAC (Music, Art, Communications) Recital Hall. A reception will follow the presentation and Winik will be signing books.
