FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York, Pennsylvania -- Julius "Dr. J" Erving, one of the greatest basketball players ever to grace the court, is coming to York College of Pennsylvania on Friday, April 11. "Dr. J" is considered the sport's ambassador to the world, after spending 16 years dazzling fans with spectacular moves and dunks. He is one of only four players in professional basketball history to score more than 30,000 career points.

Born in New York State, Erving went to the University of Massachusetts and was drafted by the Virginia Squires of the old ABA. He later spent 11 years as captain and all-star representative of the Philadelphia 76ers. He retired from the NBA in 1987 and now divides his time between the Orlando Magic, entrepreneurial projects, and community service efforts.

"Dr. J" will be speaking as part of YCP's York Entertainment Series, which is a program of the Campus Activities Board designed to attract students to college events that are both educational and entertaining. The lecture will be held in Wolf Gym A beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $5 each. For details call (717) 815-1239.
