York, Pennsylvania -- Chris Hertig, Assistant Professor in the Behavioral Sciences Department at York College, has recently authored and co-authored several chapters for the 7th edition of the Protection Officer Training Manual. The manual, which has been class tested for years, is the official text for the Certified Protection Officer (CPO) program, which is administered by the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO).

Hertig wrote chapters on Counterterrorism and VIP Protection as well as Investigation Concepts and Practices for Security Protection. He also co-authored chapters on History, Use of Force, and Public Relations.

York College has an international reputation due to the Asset Protection program, academic minor in Asset Protection, and its agreement with the IFPO that enables students to take certain exams at no extra charge. Students recognizing this opportunity have a head start in their career and in acquiring professional certification. Since 1988, the IFPO has certified over 15,000 individuals in over 40 different countries. Students studying criminal justice use the manual since it covers all areas essential to the effective training of protection officers.
