FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York, Pennsylvania - Quincy, Crossing Jordan, and C.S.I. are among the popular TV shows that delve into the role of forensic science and coroners. York College of Pennsylvania is following suit, in an academic fashion. YCP has added a new course to its Criminal Justice curriculum titled "Death Investigation."

The class will be taught for the first time at the College this fall. It will discuss various types of questionable deaths with particular emphasis on the investigator's job. Death scene investigation procedures and techniques will be stressed. Other topics to be discussed include blood spatter interpretation, head trauma, child maltreatment, and family notification.

Dr. Barbara Hanbury, Assistant Professor of Behavioral Sciences, will teach the class. She has considerable prior experience with the United States Sentencing Commission and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. To arrange an interview about the new course, call Randy Gray in the P.R. Office at (717) 815-1309.
