Students To Stay Up All Night
Posted October 10, 2003FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
York, Pennsylvania-- It's that time of year when students from York College's Habitat for Humanity hold their annual "Sleepout." On Saturday, October 18, from 7 p.m. until Sunday at 7 a.m. participants will be on site collecting monetary donations throughout the night. According to Louise Worley, Coordinator of Religious Activities, the purpose of the event is to raise awareness to the need of affordable housing in the community. To demonstrate, students will sleep in shelters made from cardboard boxes in front of St. Paul's Lutheran Church (on the corner of Springettsbury and George Street).
The donations will help the YCP Chapter of Habitat participate in the Annual Collegiate Challenge. Last spring the group worked with another Habitat organization in Florida to build a house from the ground up.
On Saturday, at 7 p.m. members will meet at the church to begin collecting donations. Participants will be on site until 7 a.m. on Sunday. For more information please contact the York College Public Relations Office at (717) 815-1309.
