The York College wrestling team and Body Rhythms Life Fitness will host a “Take Down Cancer” ZUMBATHON® Charity Event to benefit a former York College wrestler, Andy Miller ’96, who is facing multiple myeloma, a rare destructive cancer of the bone marrow, at 12 p.m., April 28 in the Grumbacher Sport and Fitness Center at York College. Tickets cost $15 or $10 with a student ID and are available for pre-purchase at BodyRhythmsLifeFitness.com or for purchase at the door. Direct donations can also be made to the Andrew K. Miller fund at any M&T Bank location.
The event will feature a meet and greet of local business mascots, raffles, a basket auction, T-shirt sale and a ZUMBA® performance by the York College wrestling team.
During his time at York, Miller was a three-time national qualifier in wrestling. For the last 10 years, he has been using his wrestling knowledge to coach and mentor the Columbia (Pa.) High School wrestling team, and continues to do so through his chemotherapy treatments.
In addition to coaching, Miller is a loving husband and father who refuses to let his 2007 diagnosis slow him down.
“Andy is a big, lovable guy,” said Katie Mummau, a close family friend of Miller. “He is so strong. Many people would be surprised to know he even has cancer. He continues to work full time and coach wrestling, and doesn’t miss a beat.”
