York College’s fall choral concert, “Voices of Russia,” will begin at 3 p.m., Nov. 13, in DeMeester Recital Hall, Evelyn and Earle Wolf Hall. The event is open to the public free of charge.

Audience member will luxuriate in the rich textures of the Russian choral tradition. Under the direction of Christine Kates and Grace Muzzo, Voca Bella, the Chorale and the Chamber Singers will explore the music of the Orthodox Church, folk songs from the countryside and compositions by Russian masters. Guest artist Jason Ryan will sing basso profondo, adding the lower octaves that create the classic Russian sound. Junior Jacob Rivers, a music major from Glen Rock, will be featured on the cello.

The singers will follow Russian Jewish musical traditions as they travelled to the New World, and the combined ensembles will conclude the concert with a medley from the American musical “Fiddler on the Roof.”
