Dickinson College Civil War history chair to deliver Langston Lecture at York College on Nov. 1
Dickinson College’s Pohanka Chair in American Civil War History will present “Boss Lincoln? Understanding Abraham Lincoln’s Partisan Leadership” at 7 p.m., Nov. 1, in York College’s Weinstock Lecture Hall, Willman Business Center. The talk by Matthew Pinsker, the 2016 Langston Lincoln Lecture at the College, is open to the public free of charge. A reception will be held at 6:30 p.m., and a booking signing will follow the talk.
Pinsker also serves as director of Dickinson’s House Divided Project, an innovative effort to build digital resources on the Civil War Era. He graduated from Harvard College and received a doctorate in modern history from the University of Oxford. Pinsker is also the author of two books: “Abraham Lincoln,” a volume in the American Presidents Reference Series, and “Lincoln’s Sanctuary: Abraham Lincoln and the Soldiers’ Home.”
