Olympic gold medalist Mia Hamm will present "The Pursuit of Excellence" at York College at 7 p.m., April 16, in the Grumbacher Sport and Fitness Center's Wolf Gym. Tickets for the talk, which is the Vizzi Family Lectureship in Professional Excellence, are sold out.
Hamm is widely recognized as the world's best all-around women's soccer player. After 17 years on the U.S. Women’s National Team, two World Championships and two Olympic gold medals, Hamm retired in 2004. She established the Mia Hamm Foundation to support patients and their families who benefit from bone marrow transplants as well as provide more opportunities for girls in sports. She is the author of "Go For the Goal: A Champion's Guide to Winning in Soccer and Life."
