York College Helps Commemorate 150th Anniversary of the Civil War

Anthony Zacchino ’09 is pursuing graduate work at the City University of New York.

On Friday, August 19, York College will hold a Civil War panel discussion titled “On the Brink of Freedom: The Politics of Slavery, Secession, and War.” The event, free and open to the public, will take place in the Film Viewing Room (Humanities Center, Room 219) from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.

The panelists are Tom Sheeler, adjunct faculty, York College; John Kerr, adjunct faculty, York College; Anthony Zacchino ’09, instructor, Queens College; and Corey Brooks, Ph.D., assistant professor of history, York College.

From August 17-21, York will commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War with a series of interesting events, ranging from living history encampments, music, period dancing, lectures and panel discussions, and special exhibits including a showing of Gone With The Wind at the Strand Capitol Theater.
