Acceptable Use Policy
Schmidt Library : Acceptable Use PolicySchmidt Library resources and equipment are provided to support the educational mission of Schmidt Library and York College of Pennsylvania. YCP members and visitors are expected to use library resources and equipment in a responsible, ethical manner.
Any use must be consistent with the Mission of the Library and the College, the York College of Pennsylvania Information Systems Policy Statement, the Code of Conduct as described in the York College Student Handbook, and any relevant federal or state laws.

Use of Schmidt Library workstations
Workstations in Schmidt Library are provided for educational and informational uses only. One public workstation is available for walk-in community users; use of the remaining workstations requires a YCP network account. Members of the YCP community conducting research have priority use of the workstations. Library staff may ask patrons who are making inappropriate or unreasonable use of a workstation to relinquish it.
Use of the Schmidt Library web pages
Responsible, ethical use includes the following:
- using the web for educational, Informational, or recreational purposes
(Using the web pages for commercial or illegal activities is not permitted.) - identifying yourself clearly and accurately in any electronic communication
- respecting the privacy of others
- respecting the right of others to be free from harassment, libel, slander, or misrepresentation
- refraining from recreational use of text or graphics that can reasonably be construed as obscene
- respecting the security of this and other systems
- respecting copyright and intellectual property rights
Schmidt Library assumes no responsibility for use of the Internet by minors. Schmidt Library has no control over information or images that minors might access. External web pages may be offensive to some; supervision is the responsibility of the parent or guardian.
Schmidt Library is responsible only for the content of pages bearing its name. Users are responsible for any outside Internet sites they reach; they are free to exit any offensive sites. Users are also responsible for evaluating resources for accuracy, currency, and authority. Schmidt Library assumes no liability for use of outside resources.
