Network & Virus Alerts
Virus Protection – All student owned machines are required to have the specific installed and updated version of the McAfee® Antivirus® program that York College offers at no additional cost to students.We reccommend users Install the Following BEFORE arriving On-campus:
ALL Microsoft Windows Updates.
Remove other Antivirus products and Install YCP provided McAfee products.
Virus Info for Students:
These programs will be required for ALL student machines that will be connected to the network. Information Technology strongly encourages students to download and install this software before arrival on-campus.
The York College Information Technology Department offers an anti-virus and anti-spyware solution that is available for student use at no cost. McAfee® Antivirus® and McAfee® Anti-Spyware® will be available for students running Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or higher, while McAfee® Virex® for Macintosh™ will only be available to students for MAC OSX 10.2.6, 10.2.8, 10.3x, 10.4x; Mactel 10.4.4 and later.
Packets containing a valid YCP network username and password will be mailed home for new students after August 1st.
These products will be available to download from myYCP ( http://my.ycp.edu/ ) under the "For Students" Tab after you receive your password.
