Spring of 2005: Come Prepared!

Missing ANY of these 4 steps will delay connection to the YCP network.

  1. Update your machine!
    1. Download and Install ALL critical Windows Updates on your PC. (turn on automatic updates
      MAC & Linux users will need to have their machines updated.
    2. Get fully licensed virus protection and make sure it is working properly. (set it to update regularly)
  2. An Ethernet card.  (Wireless is not available in Residence Halls!)
  3. You will need a CAT 5e cable (different from a phone cable).
  4. New Machine(s):
    Set up machine(s) and follow the above 3 steps before leaving home to verify that everything is set up and working properly to eliminate surprises.

November 2004 - My.YCP.edu http://my.ycp.edu is a new feature.  This secure site provides students, faculty and administrative staff with world-class Intranet and Internet services. This is where you can check e-mail, register for courses, and explore the Internet.   

24 August 2004 - Webmail's nospam feature
Attention Students: A new feature for the fall semester is the automatic creation of a nospam feature for all YCP Webmail accounts. You will no longer have to manually set up the nospam feature. For instructions on how to manage this feature, please consult the YCP Webmail guide.

23 August 2004 - Protect your computer from viruses
To avoid any disruption of your network services it is absolutely vital that you properly protect your computer from viruses. In addition to being a threat to your computer, these malicious programs can also threaten our network. We require that all students operating a personal computer on campus properly protect themselves from viruses.
