Federal Stafford Loan Program

Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Must be enrolled at least half-time.
Amount:
- $3,500 Freshman year.
- $4,500 Sophomore year.
- $5,500 Junior, Senior years.
Repayment:
- First Payment due 6 months after graduation or withdrawal at a fixed interest rate of 6.8%.
- Up to 10 years to repay.
Application Procedure:
- No specific deadline.
- Must complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Must complete MPN (Master Promissory Note). MPN can be completed online by clicking here.
- Must complete Entrance Counseling. Entrance Counseling may be completed online by clicking here.
Federal Pell Grant Program

- Need-based as determined by the federal government.
- Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Cannot hold B.A. or B.S.
Amount:
- $4,310 maximum annually.
Repayment:
- None.
Application Procedure:
- Must complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Should apply as early as possible after January 1.
Federal Work Study Program (FWSP)

Eligibility Requirements:
- Need-based.
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Amount:
- $2,200 maximum annually.
Repayment:
- None.
- Award must be earned through campus employment.
Application Procedure:
- Must complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Federal Perkins Loan

Eligibility Requirements:
- Need-based as determined by the College.
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Amount:
- $3,000 maximum annually.
Repayment:
- First payment due 6 months after graduation or withdrawal at 5% interest.
- Up to 10 years to repay.
Application Procedure:
- Must complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Requirements for Maintaining Eligibility:
- Student must sign a promissory note for funds borrowed.
Federal Parent Loan (PLUS)

Eligibility Requirements:
- Parent must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- This is a parent's loan.
- Student must be enrolled at least half-time.
Amount:
- May borrow difference between cost and total of other financial aid awards.
Repayment:
- First payment begins 60 days after funds are disbursed.
- Up to 10 years to repay.
- Fixed interest rate of 8.5%.

- Need-based as determined by the College.

Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA)

Eligibility Requirements:
- Need-based.
- Must be Pennsylvania resident.
- Must be enrolled at least half-time.
Amount:
- $4,200 maximum annually.
Repayment:
- None.
Application Procedure:
- Pennsylvania residents should file Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Deadline: May 1.
Requirements for Maintaining Eligibility:
- Full-time students must successfully complete a minimum of 24 credits per academic year to receive grant for subsequent year.
York County Community Grant

York College is pleased to offer a $2,000 grant over four consecutive semesters ($500/semester excluding summers) to all qualified residents of York County. York College is committed to York County’s future progress, and this scholarship program is one more way to show our support.
Eligibility Requirements:
- York County resident
- Full-time new student with no previous post high school college credits who is accepted to York College beginning Fall 2006 or later.
- Graduate of a York County High School within the past two years.
- May not receive this grant in addition to a York College merit scholarship (Trustee, Valedictorian, Salutatorian, Dean’s, Sweitzer, Electrical & Computer Engineering Scholarships, etc.)
Amount:
- $2,000 over four consecutive semesters ($500/semester excluding summers)
Repayment:
- None
Requirements for Maintaining Eligibility:
- Recipients must maintain a minimum 2.0 Grade Point Average in order to continue eligibility.
York College of Pennsylvania Grants-In-Aid

Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be enrolled full-time.
- Awards based on a variety of criteria, i.e., major, financial need, place of residence, academic average, etc.
Amount:
- $100 to $7,000.
Repayment:
- None.
Application Procedure:
- Must complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Requirements for Maintaining Eligibility:
- May vary by individual scholarship fund.
- Most funds require a minimum GPA of 2.0. Some may require a higher GPA (ie 2.5).
Trustee Scholarship**
All information is subject to changes in the federal/state regulations and York College policy.
A competitive scholarship of full tuition per year for ten entering first-time, full-time freshmen who graduated in the top one-fifth of their high school class and attained a combined critical reading and math SAT score of 1210 or higher with a minimum score of 540 on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 29 (optional writing test required) with a minimum score of 24 on the math and English sections). Invitation to spring scholarship competition sent to those students who meet eligibility requirements. This scholarship will cover the difference between full tuition and government aid or other scholarships. Priority given to candidates who submit completed applications, transcripts, and all required supporting documentation by January 1.
Scholarships will be renewed for up to four years for students who maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25. One-half of the scholarship will be awarded annually to those maintaining a grade point average of 3.00 to 3.24.

Valedictorian/Salutatorian Scholarship**

A one-half tuition scholarship per year for entering first-time, full-time freshmen who were valedictorians or salutatorians of their high schools and have a combined critical reading and math SAT score of 1150 or higher with a minimum score of 540 on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 26 (optional writing test required) with a minimum score of 24 on the math and English sections.
A minimum grade point average of 3.25 is required to renew the scholarship each year for up to four years. One-half of the scholarship will be awarded annually to those maintaining a grade point average of 3.00 to 3.24.

Dean's Academic Scholarship**

A scholarship of one-third tuition per year for one hundred fifty (150) entering first-time, full-time freshmen who have graduated in the upper two-fifths of their high school class and have a combined critical reading and math SAT score of 1150 or higher with a minimum score of 540 on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 26 (optional writing test required) with a minimum score of 24 on the math and English sections.
For those graduating from a high school which does not rank students, the Admissions Office will determine eligibility based on academic record. A minimum grade point average of 3.25 is required to renew the scholarship each year for up to four years. One-half of the scholarship will be awarded annually to those maintaining a grade point average of 3.00 to 3.24. Priority given to candidates who submit completed applications, transcripts, and all required supporting documentation by January 1.

Adam Kohler Scholarship/Loan**

Eligibility Requirements:
- Awarded to students with a major or minor in music.
- Audition required.
Amount:
- Varies.
Repayment:
- Eighty percent of award is grant and twenty percent is interest-free loan repayable after graduation.

- Must be making satisfactory progress in music program.

Tuition Exchange Program

Eligibility Requirements:
- Student must have parent employed full-time with Tuition Exchange member institution.
- Tuition Exchange Liaison Officer can provide specific eligibility requirements for respective institution.

- Tuition/fees.

Requirements for Maintaining Eligibility:
- Student must be making satisfactory progress towards degree.
Alternative Student Loans
Low cost loans through various private lenders are available to students who need funding beyond the limits of the Federal Student Loan program. Students can borrow up to the full cost of education minus the financial aid received. A credit worthy co-signer may be required. Students are not required to make payments while enrolled at least half-time. For more information see the following website:
