Pre-Professional Educator Status - (PPES) A York College matriculated education student must achieve Pre-Professional Educator Status (PPES) within 48 to 54 credits before they may register for Pre-Professional level education classes. This applies to all four-year education majors at York College. Transfer students and "certification-only" students must achieve PPES as soon as possible. This achieved status will allow the student to continue as an Education Major and to schedule EE or SE professional preparation coursework. Note: with the exception of ED200 and ED221, NO Department of Education courses beginning with the prefix EE or SE may be scheduled until Pre-Professional Educator Status has been attained. PPES is not a guarantee to teacher certification but simply allows the student to continue toward that goal.
- Requirements for PPES
- Completion of the "Application for Advancement to Pre-Professional Educator Status"
- 3.00 York College G.P.A.
- 6 courses as listed above
- Successful completion of 3 PRAXIS PPST exams listed above
- Act 151 (PA Child Abuse clearance), an Act 34 (PA State Police clearance), and an Act 114 (PA Federal Criminal History Clearance)
- Satisfactory completion of one 30 hour block of Field Experience
- A Letter of Application as described on the "Application for Advancement to Pre-Professional Educator Status"
