Who is eligible to participate in Intramurals?

All full-time students, faculty and staff with a valid YCP ID are eligible to participate in York College Intramurals. Varsity athletes are not eligible for participation in any related sports in the Intramural Program within the academic year that they were on a varsity roster. (Ex. Varsity baseball or softball players may not participate in Intramural softball). A player who begins an intercollegiate season on a roster but does not finish the season as a member of that team will be considered a Varsity athlete for the remainder of the academic year.

How do I sign up for an Intramural sport/event?

York College Intramurals uses IMLeagues for all of our registration and scheduling needs.  In order to sign up for an activity, every participant must create an IMLeagues account.  To learn how to create your account follow these steps: IMLeagues Signup Steps. If you have any problems please contact intramurals@ycp.edu.

What is the difference between the "A" and "B" divisions?

In order to accommodate for the various skill and competition desires there are two skill levels within each division (Men's, Women's and Co-Ed). The "A" division is for more-skilled and competitive players, while the "B" division will be the more recreational, "fun" division. A player may only play in one skill-level per division. Our staff reserves the right to promote teams among divisions, without consent, as necessary.

Is there a fee to participate?

Each team must pay a forfeit deposit prior to the start of each league. The team captain will receive a message of the due date for this deposit once the team is created. This deposit will be returned at the end of each season if a team does not forfeit a game. This helps keep the number of forfeits to a minimum by ensuring the teams who are registering want to play.

What if I do not have enough people to form a team, can I still sign up?

If you do not have enough players to form a team but want to participate, you can still register as a "Free Agent."  In order to do this you must go to IMLeagues and create an account if you have not already done so. Once you have created your account click on the sport and league in which you want to participate. Click on the "Join As Free Agent" link (next to "Create a Team" ) and follow the steps to be added to the "Free Agent" list. This enables captains of current teams to contact you if they wish to add you to their team.

What about time conflicts with our game schedule?

We try to do our best to schedule around each team's time conflicts (class schedule, meetings, etc) but this is not always the case. When registering a team on IMLeagues you will have the option to select your availability. If your team has a scheduled game and knows they will not have enough players to play the game, you can use your one default instead of forfeiting. With this default you must notify us 24 hours in advance that you will not be able to make that game. Your team will receive a loss but you will not lose your forfeit deposit.

+

How do I find out my team's schedule?

All schedules will be available on IMLeagues as well as posted on the bulletin board across from the Climbing Wall in the GSFC.

+

Where and when do we play?

This varies for each sport and can be found in the rules for each sport. Indoor sports take place in the Grumbacher Sport & Fitness Center, while outdoor sports usually take place on the fields on main campus.

+

What do we win?

The winner of each sport/event will receive the coveted Intramural Champions t-shirt. The Championship t-shirt changes every year with York College students having the opportunity to design the shirt in the T-Shirt Design Contest.

+

How do I become an Intramural official?

If you are interested in becoming an Intramural official print out the Intramural Official's application and return it to the fitness center desk when completed.

What is the best way to stay up-to-date with important Intramural information?

The two best ways to stay updated on the latest intramural information is to frequently check IMLeagues for registration dates or "Like" YCP Grumbacher Sport & Fitness Center on Facebook. Along with this, all intramural events and registration dates are promoted on the MyYCP portal.
