What are Drop-In Group Exercise classes?
Drop-In Group Exercise classes at York College are fitness classes offered at the Grumbacher Sport and Fitness Center. These classes differ from Physical Education classes because academic credit is not given. We strive to meet your fitness needs by offering a wide variety of classes. These classes are open to ALL fitness levels as most exercises and techniques can be modified for new participants while also challenging the more advanced participant.
What classes are offered?
There is a wide range of Group Exercise classes from upbeat, high-calorie burning cardio classes (ex Boot Camp, Turbo-Fusion Challenge, Cardio Blast) to mind-body, stress-reducing, classes such as Yoga. When are these classes offered?
Group Exercise classes are offered at various times throughout the day, Monday through Friday. You can view the current class schedule on the Group Exercise homepage. All class times are subject to change based on instructor availability and class popularity.
Do I have to pay to attend these classes?
All Drop-In Group Exercise classes are FREE to everyone with proper Grumbacher Sport & Fitness Center access privileges. Part-time students, faculty, staff and any GSFC guests, must pay the $5 GSFC fee in order to attend a class.
Are these classes open to anyone?
Classes are open to all fitness levels and are FREE to anyone with proper Grumbacher Sport & Fitness Center access privileges. Part-time students, faculty, staff and any GSFC guests may attend these classes as well once the $5 GSFC access fee has been paid. All participants must be at least 15 years of age.
How do I sign up for a class?
Sign-ups for each class take place at the main welcome desk in the GSFC. Sign-ups begin 30 minutes PRIOR to the schedule start time of the respective class. (Ex. For a 3:30pm class, sign ups begin at 3:00pm) Due to space and equipment limitations, each class has a limited number of participants and is filled on a first-come basis. Participants must be present to sign up for a class.
Do I need to bring my own equipment?
Participants do not need to bring their own equipment as all necessary equipment is provided for each class. You may bring your own mat if you would prefer, but it's not necessary. Everyone is strongly encouraged to wear appropriate exercise clothing and footwear. It is also strongly recommended that each participant brings along a bottle of water.
