Transfer Student Nursing Criteria

The Nursing Department has available a limited number of spaces for transfer students eligible to start clinical in Fall 2014 only.

Applicants must have successfully completed the following courses before Fall 2014 to be eligible for clinical.

• WRT 102 Analytical Reading and Writing

• WRT 202 Academic Writing

• CM 104 Human Communication

• MAT 111 Critical Thinking and Problem Solving in Mathematics

• PSY 100 General Psychology

• SOC 100 Introduction to Sociology

• CHM 122 Principles of General and Organic Chemistry

• BIO 150 Biology I

• BIO 220 Human Anatomy and Physiology I

• BIO 222 Human Anatomy and Physiology II

• BIO 230 Microbiology

• NUR 201 Human Development and Health Care

• NUR 202 Nutrition in Health Care


Acceptance criteria for transfer credits:

  • Must have a minimum of 3.0 in each required science course.
  • Must have not repeated any science course.
  • Students must meet all other grade criteria for YCP (i.e. have a minimum of a 2.0 in common core and supportive courses)
  • Science courses must have been completed within the 5 years prior to Fall 2014 (first clinical semester)
  • Cumulative GPA from last institution attended full-time must be a minimum of 2.8.

If a student does not meet eligibility requirements by Fall 2014, there is no guarantee of immediate clinical placement. Once the spaces are filled, transfers into nursing will be closed.
