Overview of MS program Department of Nursing
Post Masters Certificate
Post Masters Certificate can be earned in Clinical Nurse Specialist, with either administration or education focus, Adult Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Educator course of study. The qualifications for participation include graduation from a CCNE accredited masters nursing program and/or a program with comparable courses.
Post Master's CNS Track
The courses for the post master’s CNS track include:
NUR512/513, Theoretical Basis for Professional Role Development
(4 cr) (56 hours clinical)
NUR550/551, Seminar I (4 cr) (168 hours clinical)
NUR552/553, Seminar II (4 cr) (168 hours clinical)
And
Educator Focus: 6 credits of education courses:
NUR530, Teaching Strategies in Nursing Education (3 cr)
NUR531, Curriculum Development in Nursing Education (3 cr)
NUR532, Measurement and Evaluation in Nursing Education (3 cr)
Or
Administrative Focus: 6 credits of administration courses:
NUR565, Managed Care: Assessing and Managing the Health of a Population (3 cr)
NUR585, Health System Development (3 cr)
The Post Masters Certificate for CNS is a total of 18 credits.
Post Master's ANP Track
The courses for the post master’s ANP track include:
NUR522/523, Diagnosis and Management of Clinical Problems, Adult I
(6 cr) (180 hours clinical)
NUR524/525, Diagnosis and Management of Clinical Problems, Adult II
(6 cr) (180 hours clinical)
NUR554/555, Adult Nurse Practitioner Seminar, Clinical III (5 cr) (240 hours clinical)
If the student has not taken the Advanced Assessment course in the York College Graduate Program, which includes 40 hours of clinical in assessment and differential diagnoses, arrangements will be made for the student to complete this clinical requirement for the ANP track.
The Post Masters Certificate for ANP is a total of 17 credits.
Post Master's Nurse Educator Track
The courses for the Nurse Educator track include:
