Health Services
If my child is ill, what services does York College provide? The College Health Center is staffed with a full-time nurse, a nurse practitioner, part-time nurses, and a part-time physician. The Center has scheduled hours and staff available seven days a week and has an on-call system for emergencies when the Center is not open.
- Counseling Services - A counselor is available to help students deal with the developmental, social, personal, and academic issues that every college student faces. Referrals to community agencies and private therapists are also available.
- LEAD (Life Enhancement and Development) - The LEAD team is a group of students, faculty, and administrators dedicated to reducing the harm associated with alcohol and other drugs by creating a campus environment supportive of safe, healthy, and legal behavior. The team attempts to accomplish this goal through a variety of informational and educational programs tapping the resources available in the greater York College community.
- Drug & Alcohol Wellness Network (D.A.W.N.) - Members of the campus community meet to discuss related campus issues and plan activities. Such activities include Alcohol Awareness and Prevention Days, Drug Awareness Week, and substance-free alternative programs.
- York College of Pennsylvania Alcohol & Drug Policy - Believing that the use of alcohol is detrimental to the standards of group living and academic achievement, the College does not permit students the use or possession of such beverages on campus. Any student found using or distributing illegal substances may face suspension from the College and may also be referred to the civil authorities for prosecution. Pennsylvania law prohibits possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages by individuals under the age of 21.
