Academic Advising

Can my child depend on an advisor to be available for help?

York College prides itself on being able to give all of its students the individual attention necessary to be successful inside the classroom and out. Each student is assigned a faculty academic advisor in his/her major area of study. Additionally, undeclared students are also assigned an advisor, but are encouraged to seek assistance from any department that may interest them. The Coordinator of Academic Advising directs York's academic advising process, and the Registrar coordinates the scheduling system. Students are encouraged to bring problems or concerns to these offices.

· Peer Advising - It's always helpful to receive advice and assistance from someone who's been there. All full-time freshmen are assigned a Peer Advisor whom they can call for information and advice.

· The Learning Resource Center - The Learning Resource Center is located within the Wolf Academic Center. Writing and math tutoring assistance is offered, as well as study skills workshops and test proctoring services. Academic assistance in other courses is also available.

· Tutoring - Many departments offer tutoring in their specific subjects.
