Eligibility Criteria
All students who receive financial aid, whether from federal, state, or York College funds, must be enrolled degree candidates in good academic standing (maintaining at least a 2.0 GPA). They must also be making sufficient academic progress toward the degree as outlined in the York College Catalog and student handbook. Students must be attending, or planning to attend, on a full-time basis in order to be eligible for most types of financial aid. Students attending on a half-time basis are eligible for aid from several federal programs. Please make reference to the Financial Aid Programs section for information pertaining to those programs. Most of the financial aid awarded by York College is based upon financial need. "Financial need" is defined as the difference or "gap" between the estimated cost of attending York College and the reasonable contribution of the student and his or her family to those costs. York College uses a generally accepted procedure (known as Congressional methodology) for determining whether or not an applicant for assistance demonstrates financial need.
There are a number of scholarships available based upon a student's academic achievement in high school. Information on those scholarships is listed in the Financial Aid Programs section and is also available from the College Financial Aid Office. York College does not offer athletic scholarships.
