Becoming a Teacher

Master of Education Program

The Master of Education program is a professional preparation program designed to prepare graduates to assume leadership roles in public and private schools. Candidates in the M.Ed. program may specialize in Educational Leadership, leading to Pennsylvania Department of Education Certification as a K-12 Principal, in K-12 Reading Specialist, leading to certification as a K-12 Reading Specialist, or in Special Education, leading to certification in Special Education.

Geared Towards Working Professionals

Courses are:

  • Offered in the evening hours, Monday through Thursday, during the regular academic year.
  • Offered in morning, afternoon and evening hours, during the summer break.
  • Taught by full-time faculty and adjunct professors.
  • Enrollment has been managed to allow for constructive individual attention.

Educational Leadership

The Educational Leadership specialization prepares educators for positions of administrative leadership in the public or private school setting leading to Pennsylvania Department of Education Certification as a K-12 Principal.

Reading Specialist

The Reading Specialist specialization provides educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to become certified as K-12 Reading Specialists.

Special Education

The Special Education specialization prepares educators for special education positions in the public or private school setting leading to certification as a special educator.
