Ken Lamken '08 has experienced many professional and personal accomplishments over the last four years: he was credited as a muralist for the YES network’s Emmy Award-winning show Ultimate Road Trip: Season 2, he co-produced and wrote two albums, and most recently, he is an account executive for Clover Network, a social network marketing company and competitor of Groupon and LivingSocial.
“Many of my co-workers are currently in graduate schools or have attended Ivy League schools,” said Lamken. “It is a great feeling to know that I am on par with them, AND I pay much less in loans!”
When he is not helping businesses develop their social media presence, he is singing and playing keys in Beecher's Fault, a band that plays weekly in the New York City metro area.
“I credit all the great professors I had at York College for helping to shape me into a well-rounded professional,” he said.
But it was Ry Fryar who helped him excel in all aspects of life.
“Professor Fryar is as forward thinking as they come,” said Lamken. “For more than half of my time at York, Ry served as a teacher, peer, friend, therapist, and all-around life coach.”
Lamken would like to remind students who are interested in pursuing a career in Fine Art to take advantage of the opportunities York College has to offer, including internships that can help determine what direction to take the degree.
“Put your knowledge to good use!” he added.
