Brian Biddulph-Krentar '97 (West Chester, Pa.) was the only employee at the company he started in 2004, which has since been nominated by the Philadelphia 100 as one of the fastest growing companies in the area.
With a degree in computer information systems from York College, Brian first started HIT Consulting Services to implement software solutions in hospitals across the US and Canada. Four years later, in 2008, he started HIT Application Solutions when he spotted a need for a software solution to improve communications between care providers in hospitals.
Today, Brian has merged the two companies into HIT Application Solutions, manages 25 employees and has also developed another software application to help convert paper charts to electronic ones for private schools and universities.
Brian recalled two particular professors at York College who began him on the path to his successful career: Gurney Strouse, Ph.D., and Bill Eddins, Ph.D. "I was on the fence about IT as a major, but once I started classes with those two professors, I felt like I was home," Brian said.
Brian's advice for current students is to get as much real-world experience as possible while still in school. "Being able to apply what you're learning to real-world problems will help you when you get your first job."
