Chemistry

Improving. Creating. Uncovering. A degree in chemistry unlocks a wealth of career possibilities centered around problem solving.

Whether we realize it or not, chemistry is a huge part of everyday life. From the food we grow to the medicine we take and the machinery we use, chemistry is a growing industry that impacts day-to-day functions. At York College of Pennsylvania, a degree in chemistry can lead to an exciting career.

Our students master the basic principles of chemistry while learning to think and discover new concepts. Access to advanced laboratories and instruments with the guidance of our experienced faculty means our graduates have the tools they need to become the next generation of chemistry leaders.

Every Chemistry student in our major has the opportunity to work on an independent research project and complete internships.

Three chemistry labs help students gain access to the tools they need to research, test and discover new advances in the field. The General Chemistry Lab is the primary teaching center for general lab courses. In the Organic Chemistry Lab, built in 2009, students will find energy-saving low-flow fume hoods and a pre-lab/dry area with special software access. Finally, the Analytical Chemistry Lab is home to state-of-the-art instruments.
